How to use it

  1. Choose the film contact sheet template: 35mm, or 120 in 6×6, 6×7 or 645.
  2. Add the scans of one roll. They are sorted by file name, so frame 1 comes first.
  3. Edit the edge marking to print your film stock or roll number along the strips.
  4. Circle your picks, then download the PDF: one roll per page.

35mm and 120 contact sheet layouts

A 36-exposure 35mm roll is traditionally cut into six strips of six frames, which fit across an 8×10 or Letter sheet. Medium format 120 gives 12 square frames in 6×6 (four strips of three), 10 frames in 6×7 (five strips of two) or 15 frames in 645 (strips of four). The maker uses those same cuts, so the sheet reads like the one your lab used to print.

Vertical frames

On a real negative, a vertical photo sits sideways in the strip. “Rotate like a negative” keeps that look; “Crop to frame” keeps every photo upright but crops it to the frame shape.

Frequently asked questions

What is a film contact sheet?
A print made by laying the cut strips of a developed roll directly on photo paper, so every frame appears at actual size with its frame numbers and edge markings.
Can I make a contact sheet from scanned negatives?
Yes. Scan or camera-scan the roll, export JPEGs, and drop them here. The tool rebuilds the strips around your scans.
How many frames are on a 35mm contact sheet?
Usually 36, cut into six strips of six. Rolls loaded tight can give 37 or 38 frames; the extra frames start a second roll page.
How many frames does 120 film give?
12 in 6×6, 10 in 6×7, 15 in 645 and 8 in 6×9. The maker supports 6×6, 6×7 and 645.
Will it print at the real negative size?
The sheet is scaled to fit the paper with margins, so frames come out close to, but not exactly at, actual size.
Do you upload my scans?
No. Your scans are read and laid out in your browser and never sent anywhere.
