Which template should I use?

  • 12-up (3 × 4) for client proofs where faces must be easy to see.
  • 20-up (4 × 5) as an everyday default on Letter paper.
  • 30-up (5 × 6) to fit a full session on few pages.
  • 36-up (6 × 6) to show one roll of film per page.
  • 6-up (2 × 3) for a final selection.

What size is a contact sheet?
Traditionally 8×10 inches, the photo paper size used in darkrooms. Today Letter (8.5×11) in the US and A4 elsewhere are the usual choices; all three are available.
Can I use the template in Photoshop or Word?
The PDF opens in any PDF reader and in Photoshop, but you do not need either: the template fills itself from your photos here.
Can I print a blank contact sheet?
Yes. “Download blank template” gives empty numbered frames with lines for notes.
Is this a template for a contact list?
No, this is a photo contact sheet. For names, phone numbers and emails, a spreadsheet contact list is the right tool.
